Space

How a space is organized (or un-organized) matters. Where is your jar of pens? Do you have one? Are they scattered everywhere, or forever going missing? What do you see from where you sit? Is it demoralizing? Is it pleasant? Is it beautiful?

As I sit here, there are 8 containers of pens and markers in front of me, 3 of which have 4 subdivisions. [and they are organized, sorted nicely by types] But, this is not where I do art. Perhaps they should move?

Do your furniture, fixtures, and storage work for you? Do you have the tools you need? Is the space spotless? Neat, but unmindful of spills or scrapes? Furniture one must tiptoe around is not – at least for me – conducive to living.

Is there light? A view? Continuous noise? Is the noise your own noise, or impinging from elsewhere nearby? Does the purposeful arrangement combined with the display of clutter leave you peaceful? Or agitated? What would your mother say? How about your favored authors, musicians, artists?

Around all this, how near is the nearest plant? The nearest large green space? How removed are you from the Earth’s surface? And the open air? 10 feet? 1,000 feet?

What is silence? What is hypnosis? What is media? What is creation? What is passivity? What is rest? What makes something pathological?

From a work-in-progress collection I was planning in 2019 to replace psychicfuguestudio.net with. Currently at shoestringoperationsnexus.online, a domain that I am not going to be doing what I planned with. Psychic Fugue Studio is a retired personal website but I recently re-uploaded it for posterity. Think of it as mostly web art, some poetry. Never quite became a CV or business site and didn’t know what it wanted to be, really…
