In spite of all the terrible things about them, controversial proposed appointments RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Hegseth, and Matt Gaetz [reference and other info below] don’t strike me as people who would embrace targeted killings, rape squads, and genocide as Politics Girl notes threats have been going around of online, particularly rape squads [ [ full Politics Girl podcast embedded below and very much worth watching – *not* saying I *100%* endorse 100% of every word or 100% certainty of everything there ] ]. Hegseth also, something I read or watched said that he has been more supportive of Ukraine than some picks could have been. Some of these are highly unlikely to be confirmed, as well. And I forget what but something else noted of either Matt Gaetz or more likely Hegseth and someone else who might have been picked (forget who, more qualified but less loyal to Trump personally) “He [Trump] wouldn’t trust [the named prospect for defense or AG] with his life like that.”
People who anticipated targeted killings, such as me, possibly others were thinking more along the lines of some sort of extrajudicial / show trial process followed by executions rather than vigilante violence by 3 percenter, oath keeper, and white ‘christian’ ‘nationalist’ types. Despite Trump’s talk on the campaign trail of ‘one really violent day’ to deal with crime issues and how it was compared to the TV show ‘The Purge’, he has historically both lied, promised without delivering and failed to do things quite frequently and without shame or compunction. For a moment there in october and november it seemed to me as if he was actually trying (but failing in the effort to try) to lose. Make what you will of it. I personally think reports on the Nextdoor social media network in my area of someone field dressing a deer hung by the neck in his front yard in the city [a possible threat / indication someone is fantasizing about the ‘purge’ by referencing lynching said I. One person said in all his years hunting he had never seen anyone hang the deer by the neck or head rather than the legs. Bow hunting is legal within the city limits so a legal case might be hard to make but the persons neighbors may be letting them know that eyes are upon them] might be people getting overly confident in how much broad public and/or government support their racist or bigoted fantasyland of race war and other bigotries and subjugations would get. And the report on Nextdoor and local TV / internet news station of a puppy being burned in a pit under a bridge near the edge of between downtown and the broadly black people heavy west end referencing witch burnings and inquisition type ‘christian’ ‘nationalist’ fantasies — historical heretic and ‘witch’ burnings and persecutions often targeted mentally ill or influential women or people whose property the neighbors coveted. We have a federal courthouse here in Louisville and the DOJ investigated the police now under a consent decree for various bad patterns and practices not all of them racially oriented. so the federales are still, and to some extent, always, in town.
There’s a lot of work in opposition to do certainly, but it is likely that at least some of our fears will not pan out. When I was recently at lunch with Dad, there was a black woman talking to the hostess when we got there wearing a fashion/light trenchcoat sort of thing in military style, not woodsy, camouflage with great big words on the back saying ‘nothing like a sistah’ which was very reminiscent of that time there was much reporting of the jacket Melania Trump wore that said ‘i really don’t care. do you?’ from some designer. Whether you see this as synchronicity or some bizarre set of circumstances where people in the incoming Trump camp are trying for some motivation to win *my* trust, make of it what you like… I posted online recently about the possible assassination attempt in august against me and that i had a had a weird and very unexpected fall on the sidewalk while wearing new big headphones I had picked off the shelf at target, not ordered online for shipping to me, about how we might want to be more careful of big headphones if they could contain some weird unknown science fiction type stun gun when flying airplanes or crossing streets or train tracks. This was in the weeks after the massive supply chain compromise led to the explosion of thousands of pagers with deaths and injuries in Lebanon and subsequent ban of pagers from airplanes (probably temporary) across parts of the Arab world. Some person in the class I was recently taking posted things in the chat about RFK Jr and weird anti-vax ideas but also some forum inviting other class participants to vote in some online forum about nominations for a ‘Trump unity government’. Problematic narcissism distorts relationships with the person who has the problem and they rarely seek treatment unless forced by circumstances but I rather doubt if it is entirely untreatable. Not every authoritarian fool with bad ideas is a Hitler type elimininationist hankering for genocide. Perhaps someone reached him? To some extent? Make of it what you will…. A day after I posted online about the poor syntax highlighting in Google Chrome it seemingly added some improvements to Chrome, and *some people* (quite small number, at least directly through GitHub, but downloading zip files would not get counted in clone statistics) unknown to me are cloning my GitHub repositories…
[ 11/19 addition: How to cope with narcissistic people – Radio Segment, 9 minutes – Subhead: “The book explains how to recognize narcissism and heal from a relationship with a narcissist” — From my Facebook: “Anyone living or working near or in Washington DC and also people who want to just have greater understanding of whatever the hell it is is going on in a trump administration should listen to this” Additional note: Many people have said trump has malignant narcissism, fewer have said Narcissistic Personality Disorder which I guess technically requires professional expert evaluation and diagnosis… Narcissism is also a core personality trait everyone has in some model, a personality style [wikipedia] and a concept known as healthy narcissism [wikipedia]. Wikipedia notes that stable narcissism and destructive narcissism are ‘stopping points in between’ healthy narcissism and pathological narcissism. What the boundaries of this phrase ‘problematic narcissism’ are not officially/technically defined ]
There was also a headline some weeks ago along the lines of “why is Mike Johnson the only person who can defy Trump and stay in the Republican party?” [on basic stuff like working with Democrats to keep the government open, but whatever…] although I think my reading has suggested pretty strongly that he’s supportive of the terrible Project 2025…. Make of it what you will….
Things do historically tend to subtly shift whenever the new president elect starts getting the most secret of the briefings…. whoever they are. Even if he’s ‘a fascist to his core’ and ‘has no understanding or value for the rule of law’ not every fascist is obsessed with genocide or industrial scale murder. Or just … not every fascist is interested in any particular variety of ideological or mythological purity. There will be bad things and it is undoubtedly tragic, on balance, to me. But we’ll have to wait and see what the actual horrors and what the actual powers and goals or motivations of various oppositions and backers are going to be.
When Trump said “they had guns, we didn’t have guns”, while people were rightly disturbed that he was identifying as part of the ‘we’ with the US Capitol January 6th rioters —
— ( ( I recently noticed… this year… how interesting it is that there were no leftish wing counter protesters anywhere about the area during the events of January 6th – I wonder if my postcards in November 2016 – March 2017 to all the mental health workers I found within a 5 mile radius of Capitol Hill and a 1 mile radius of Trump Tower NYC had any role with their declining to appear… I’ll never really know. I did start covering the Mar a Lago area at some point but stopped after only a few cards. Don’t recall which year. Found in the GoodTherapy.org and PsychologyToday.com listings near the relevant zip code… John Oliver seemed incredibly amused in his episode of Last Week Tonight from [year] about Data Brokers when he was talking about what his team did with data from 5 mile radius of Capitol Hill… ) ) —
— the part that said ‘they had guns’ may have referred not to the police but to the ‘rapid response force’, I think of Oath Keepers(?), with machine guns and heavy weapons waiting to deploy in a hotel across the river. Were they expecting to start a fight and blame ‘antifa’ and ‘black lives matter’ for the ensuing bloodbath? And the Trump insiders were not aware of that part of the plan? But The Leftish Groups Did Not Show… And so he was DIS-identifying from the heavy weapon ‘militia’ group?

While it is somewhat alarming about Pete Hegseth being reported as having a white nationalist tattoo, and it is appropriate for that to have been reported to and investigated by the marines as a possible insider threat by a fellow soldier, seemingly, he was ?not? determined to be an insider threat in the end? People get tattoos without fully understanding what they mean sometimes and they also later change their views sometimes… and when you have someone infiltrating, what better way to gain trust than for a double agent to get permanent ink? Speaking well of double triple or quintuple agents, whatever, Tulsi Gabbard, one always must wonder whose side they’re really on? Only their own perhaps.. or as is noted in Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett between the demon Crawley and whatever the angel’s name was, analogously to spies, agents in the field often find they have more in common with their opposite numbers there than with the higher ups back at headquarters on either of how many sides…

The Trash Panda is appropriate because they are super cool and because the next door city to where I grew up, Madison, Alabama has a AA MLB minor team called The Rocket City Trash Pandas! news to me– I think I may have read that on facebook or somewhere, but it didnt really register..
I think I can embed this from the URL on Wikimedia under fair use. This is not a free use creative commons or public domain image, so I think you are supposed to not alter remix or resize it and can use it only in limited ways (ask someone who knows…). Of course, if I and many others are jailed or murdered on or after the day following inauguration, you would need to reassess things… These are not the full extent of my thoughts on these matters but this post has gotten long and complicated when I thought I was setting out to do something simpler than the other 3 or 4 ideas I still haven’t managed to start on yet… I need to construct a budget request for my Dad, get started on my passport application in case (and so maybe I can finally go on vacation when Dad asks again in 2025 with him, and make updates to savetheoxygen.org, tkos.dev, and cooperdozier.com among other things so we’re wrapping up for now. –
Other creatures pictured than the raccoon are the ringtail lemur, — the North American ringtail, AKA the miner’s cat nearly was in too but I didn’t want to do a more complex picture than 6 pieces — a baby opossum (the North American kind), flamingo on a non-existent postal stamp, and the Hawaiian Baby Woodrose flower vine with the psychoactive seeds containing LSA and other lysergic alkaloids plus very unpleasant toxic cyanogenic glycosides, and the common in imagery and cartoons, but rare in real life Halloween ghost…
